I have 3 chi's and 2 cats that get along fine in my house. Only the
older, bigger chi goes outside. She has never made the cats sick. Only
the old cat goes outside, and he has never made the other animals sick.
I have never tried litter training the dogs because I buy plenty of
litter for the cats. I crate trained the 2 little chi's and the older,
bigger chi goes outside. She is a long coat so she can tolerate the cold
better. The 2 small chi's r smooth coat and would freeze their butts.
