I'm not sure I would want mine sedated for that. A little pain med., sure...but
I am not sure about sedation.
Pepper had a rupture once that got real bad to...bad enough that I took him to
the vet for anti-biotics, ect as well, so I know how freaked out you must have
been feeling...especially before you knew what it was....I can be scary, lol.
Glad he will be ok.
Make sure you ask the vet to show you how to express his glands because since
he is prone to problems, it is something that needs to become part of his
regular routine.

just got back form the vet. he kept him. it is his annal gland its acting
up plus its infected and at ruptured. he said it was quite large. he is going
to sedate him and give him a pain shot before he squeezes it and clean it out.
he said he would send him home with pain meds and antibodic. so far so good.
