Yes, you are lucky. In Texas we have fleas year round and it seems to get worse when its dry and hot and that's most of the summer. When I told the vet about Emiliano's reaction, all he said was "we need to change the medication" and even refunded for the amount of Advantage I had not used. That sounds so scary! I don't know what it is, but my dogs just don't ever have any flea's ? I live in southern CA, and my dogs are kept inside, except to go potty outside. I know there are stray cats that come in the yard, that must have flea's, but none ever on my dogs.. I guess my dogs have been blessed... After using it for more than a year, Emisliano had a bad reaction to Advantage, he would pace round and round and pant, till it looked as if his legs gave out and he would lay down and continue to pant. If I picked him up and held him, I could feel his heart racing. No more, I now give him a pill taken orally that includes flea and heart worm medication. So far, so good. I have a friend that used Frontline and had a similar reaction from her dog.
