Yes, you are lucky. In Texas we have fleas year round and it seems to
get worse when its dry and hot and that's most of the summer. When I told
the vet about Emiliano's reaction, all he said was "we need to change the
medication" and even refunded for the amount of Advantage I had not used.

That sounds so scary! I don't know what it is, but my dogs just don't ever
have any flea's ?
I live in southern CA, and my dogs are kept inside, except to go potty
outside. I know there are stray cats that come in the yard, that must have
flea's, but none ever on my dogs..
I guess my dogs have been blessed...

I will not use any medication that you break the tube and empty it onto
the dog. After using it for more than a year, Emisliano had a bad reaction
to Advantage, he would pace round and round and pant, till it looked as if
his legs gave out and he would lay down and continue to pant. If I picked
him up and held him, I could feel his heart racing. No more, I now give him
a pill taken orally that includes flea and heart worm medication. So far,
so good. I have a friend that used Frontline and had a similar reaction
from her dog.

i never had frontline do any good... it only kills the flea AFTER its on
the dog so doesnt help stop the new ones... while *advantage will render all
fleas strile so no more breeding happens , so the problem is gone asap.
... about every 3 years i have to use advantage one time then dust with "DE"
but i dont take my dogs off my land. and i treat the closest acre to my
house with the "DE".

I agree it is good stuff. I wish it worked here. I was bummed when it did
not. After several flea infestations I said ENOUGH! Frontline it is

i can second that!!! on the raw feeding...
also there is a natural product called "DE" its ground sea shells to a
powder... you sprinkle on ground and it kills insects including the
flea...must be repeated for a while to stop the new hatching ones... does not
bother
mammals. it has microscopic sharp edges that tear up the breathing of
bugs. too small to bother dogs. i cant spell it and make SURE you order FOOD
GRADE its "diatomatious earth" great stuff... no chemicals...

HI!
I can share with you that changing all my pack from kibble to a raw diet
of 80% raw high quality meat, 10% raw organs and 10% bone has changed dry
skin, whimpy coats, bad breath, plaque filled teeth, attitudes, stools,
itchy-ness, many other health issues as well as greatly improving my poodle's
seizures. Almost any of the things mentioned have become a complete
non-issue...sparkling white teeth...great coats...no itchiness...perfect
stools...etc.

For fleas I would bathe often in a very mild shampoo...use a conditioner
and then a good ole-fashion flea comb to pic them off on a regular basis.
There is not ONE flea med out there I would ever put on a Chi...let alone
any other dog if I could get away with it. Good news...only a few more months
 of fleas season!!

Hugs In Him,
Deanna
