Everyone has already discussed the different types of flea treatments, so I wont add to that, but if there are currently fleas on the dog, for emmediate relief, bathe in original dawn dishliguid. This will NOT prevent further infestation, but it will rid the chi of the fleas currently on them so the process can begin. If the skin is so bad as to already be to the point of hair loss, then after batheing in dawn to get off all the fleas, I would bathe again in oatmeal bath....again, this is not a preventative of any kind, but will offer short term immediate relief. The after fully rinsing and patting dry (no dryer and no rubbing) use baby oil on the hairless spots to add some oil back to the skin. These steps should help you get on the way to solving the issue. Again, these are not preventative measures, but are simply steps that can speeed the recovery process and offer some more emmediate comfort.
