Deanna, he doesn't bring up brain damage, probably because spaying in itself
doesn't cause it. I would be interested to hear your valued opinion as to what
you think may have happened to Gigi.

You really should read those articles I listed...the main concerns over spay
and neuter are not brain damage...there is way more to it...really Dasha...it
is worth reading them. Dr Symes doesn't even bring up brain damage...far MORE
issues than that!!! Cancer and lots of other problems...don't just listen to
me...really read what he has to say...it is worth your time

I have read a lot Deanna and I do believe that the brain damage is a thing that
happens less rather than more. As far as the spaying goes I was not saying that
every dog should be spayed but that there is not a medical reason why dogs
under 6 pounds can't be. The world is a big big place. People tend to only see
a small corner.

Dasha...before you just say that I would really encourage you to do some
reading about the new info coming out!!! You can start with
www.dogtorj.com...there is TONS of info out there...but you have to look. There
are MANY reasons to possibly opt for not spaying. There are things to learn in
the area.

Personally I think the brain damage is one of those rare things that can
happen. Just like humans dogs will react differently. There is no reason a dog
under 6 pounds can't be spayed.

Okay everyone I feel so stupid but I have never ever heard of small dogs
getting brain damage from having anesthesia or that you should not spay a dog
under 6 lbs. I have heard that if you don't spay them they can get uterine
cancer and infections and all kinds of problems. I have had both my chi's
spayed and neutered and it was all great. But now I have Maggie who I will have
to decide on. So where do I find the facts on the brain damage information and
the pros and cons.I have trusted and loved my Vet for the last 30 years but
maybe I am blindsided.
