I have read that a dog can tell a lot about you by licking and smelling your skin. They can detect sickness, disease, etc by "tasting" and smellng you...part of how they gather info about each other as well. Dogs that are trained to dectect cancer on humans use smell and taste to detect it...it is amazing what they "learn" from just those two senses.
