I had wanted to address that issue as well...smaller dogs need puppy food longer not only because they are more active and burn more calories but also because of their longer lifespan which translates to a longer puppyhood as well. They develop at a much slower rate. There are many people that choose to feed the tiny breeds puppy food throughout their entire lives maybe only making some changes when they reach senior status.
