Is she always kept in the pen? Why? You can set perameters but give her an
opportunity to be in a larger open space. I stopped keeping Emiliano in the pen
as soon as he learned to use the litter box and stopped chewing on things. The
pen is still up and I put him in it when he is uncomfortable with visitors
(workers,. the cleaning lady, small children) and at night when he goes to
sleep in his tent, which is also in the pen. The pen is his safe place and he
is comfortable there, however, at all other times, he is free to roam our large
den and hall, my kids call the den Emiliano's room, but he is not allowed to
roam in the rest of the house (a door divides the den area from the rest of the
house). If I am at home, he is allowed to be with me in any room but is kept
out in the den when I am not at home.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Crying and Barking in play pen

Hello, I have a question about Gigi. I keep her in a playpen with toys
litterbox and an open crate. Almost everyday she has a few instances where she
cries and barks to get out the playpen. I have been ignoring these episodes
because I don't want to train her into thinking crying will get me out of the
pen. They only last about a minute or so. Am I doing this right? Should I do
something else when she barks in her pen?

Thanks Emberly
