Hello Carolyn, My heart and thoughts go out to you in your time of need. This is a very hard time in your life. Most of us have been through what you are going through now. It is very hard to think clear on what is the best to do for our pets in this time of need. I have seen pets slow down on eating when they are not feeling well or when the time is near. When he
is being near you he most likely wants comfort. He knows that you will take care of him. He just fells safe around you. You always been there for him so he know you will do the best for him. As what to do when the time comes, you will need to decide. You know Joe best, when in your heart you feel he wants help leaving then you need to take him to the vet. I just went through this last year with my little Choix. She had Cushings which we had under control then around Easter we notice that she started to go down hill. She had a seizure and fell down a flight of stairs. She was ok after a fer hours but my wife and I just watch her over the next few months. The day she had at least three seizures my wife took her to the vet. It was a very long drive for me to the vet office from work because in the back of my mind I just knew what we were facing. When I arrived at the vet office the vet told us there is not much we can do at this point. We could tell Choix was in great pain. We did have the vet put her to sleep that afternoon. The vet office put us in a private room and left us there as long as we wanted to stay. The vet tech was just great through the whole process, she was also a close friend to Choix. We did have her cremated and we still have her ashes. Be with Joe for now and if you feel he is in pain, take him to the vet and ask the vet how much time do they feel Joe has left. My thoughts and heart are with you. We will all support you through your time in need. mark ________________________________ From: C.M. <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 1, 2012 10:29 PM Subject: [Chihuahuas] My dog is dying Hi friends, My dog, Joe (some of you "oldies" know him) is dying. Two weeks ago, the vet gave me the "news". My Joe is almost blind, can't hear and has tumors/lumps all throughout his body. He's only 12 years old - I rescued him one day before he was scheduled to die - He's a 26 pound corgie/staffie/doxie black and white beautiful dog. So sorry you guys, I'm crying. But, no amount of money will fix Joe. I think he's getting worse quickly - more difficulty breathing, more coughing/choking; limping even more, not eating and there's more. What's strange is that he's become a "velcro" dog. Now, he just wants to be near me - which breaks my heart. Is he trying to say goodbye? Is he trying to say he hurts? When the time comes-which sounds soon, what do I do? Do I take him to his vet? Then what do I do with my Joe's body? You all have unfortunately, been through this, but I haven't and I don't know what to do. Can you please help me? Thank you, Carolyn Joe, Koby, Penny
