Whew, glad she is okay now. She could have had a mild concussion when she fell, because wobbly a head is not normal and says something is wrong with her brain. Best to keep her low until she is bigger and can make the jumps up and down. JMO, but I don't think it is a good idea for a chi because of there size, even at 6 pounds ,to sleep with kids. They can get accidently kicked, or rolled onto. To say the least she is too small to be jumping that height and can break a leg or fracture a disk in her back, or hurt her soft spot on her head. Chi puppies are fragile and should be handled as such.
You can always gate off an area, and since it sounds like she likes her carrier for her den, which is normal because chis like to be covered, leave her carrier and her bed and pads and water in there with some room to move around in. That is much better then the basket. If you have a spare bathroom that would work too. Chis also get reverse sneezing when they are too excited, and can sound like they have a runny nose and snort, with the sneezes, but just a runny nose isn't normal. Either she is allergic to something, and most of the times it is the food or treats, or she is sick, and only a Vet can tell the difference. Beware, dogs, even puppies will mask a sickness, and act like nothing is wrong. It is a dog's instinct to do so, so that they can ward off predators. How old is she anyway? If she is still sucking on your fingers she sounds like she is only 4-5 weeks old. They usually stop that around 5-6 weeks old. I would really love to see a picture of her, she sounds like a little bundle of joy. Thankfully he has clothes all over the floor. She has been super good all day. Back to normal. I think the stress from not knowing where she was when she fell and from not being in her "bed" did her in. She has been playful, funning around eating and drinking. No more wobbles. I was gone for about 3 hours and came home and all she wanted was to be held. She seems to get a runny snorty nose when she is left alone to long. It goes away once she calms down. I am off to get her some good kibble, some nutracal and a few toys. The fingers have had enough..LOl... --- In Chihuahuas@yahoogroups.com, "Joan" <joan_croft@...> wrote: > > Do you think that she fell off of your son's bed? If you think she fell and is having those symptoms, i would take her to the vet to be checked out. > At one time, the vet told me to give Dolly some Nutrical every time that she started to shake because they thought she had low blood sugar. After a couple of days, I was having a difficult time waking her up and I think it was because she really didn't have low blood sugar and it was putting her into the 'too much sugar' sleepiness. > > --- In Chihuahuas@yahoogroups.com, "leanneb65" <leannebkr@> wrote: > > > > So stress can cause the weak wobbly-ness? We do not have a crate for her but I have a huge plastic rectangle tote (no lid). huous and shPee pad on one end bed on the other. It sits next to my son's bed. Last night he put the pup in his bed to calm her down but he fell asleep. When he woke up she was off the bed and found her way to her portable carrier. When we found her she was obviously shaken and was so strange ever since. She pooped twice. Once normal, once slightly loose. She wouldnt eat anything but I have her a teaspoon of water with a bit of sugar in it. She lapped that up. She even seemed like she wouldnt hold her head up, a bit weak. So she slept and slept and slept. I finally put her down to get some stuff done. She went right to the pee pad and pottied. Then she followed me all over so I put her in her box with food. She ate a little but seemed more alert, playful, whining to get out, etc. She followed me all over and even tried to jump up on the couch. She wanted to chew on my finger but she has no real interest in toys right now. She is now sleeping on my chest and she sounds at times, not all the time, like she has a runny nose. We got her on Sunday and she had her first shot on Saturday. > > Am I being paranoid or is some of this normal? The food I have been giving her is Pedigree Puppy canned. She keeps wanting to eat my other dogs adult Purina One. I will go out later today and get her a better quality food and some nutri-cal. I used to give that stuff to my ferrets a long time ago. Any suggestions on a good kibble food for her, one that does not require a small loan. > > > > Thanks! > > > > --- In Chihuahuas@yahoogroups.com, Peggy & The Girls <phrpg5@> wrote: > > > > > > It's a lot of stress for a new puppy to be away from mommy and her litter > > > mates for the first couple of weeks.
