Comment #8 on issue 4219 by phistuck: Gears not detected
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=4219

Chromium 1.0.155.0 build 7298 still does not detect Gears.
Accessing Google Docs and clicking the "Offline" link, it says I should
*upgrade* my
Google Gears.
When I click "Upgrade Google Gears", it takes me into a page with no
download link -
http://gears.google.com/?
action=upgrade&name=Google%20Docs%20Offline&icon_src=http://docs.google.com/i
mages/doclist/gears_icon_64.png&return=http://docs.google.com/%3FgearsInstall%3Dtr
ue&message=You%20need%20to%20install%20Gears%20to%20use%20Google%20D
ocs%20Offline.

Which shows an "Install Gears" button for user agents (Gears-less IE 6)
without Gears.

Same for Google Chrome 1.0.154.39 build 7051.

Note that Google Reader successfully detects and uses Google Gears (though,
I do not
know if it is supposed to download my "2000 items" everytime I click on
that go offline
link.

(Oh and I am experiencing issue 3543 right now, again.)
