I don't know if this will help you, but it has helped me tremendously. In Firefox I use an add-on that prevents Flash presentations from loading UNLESS I specifically click on them to load (it uses a nice Flash icon placeholder so I know where Flash stuff is). I think there is/are script(s) for Chrome/Chromium that can do the same thing. I only view about 1 out of 20 Flash presentations that come across the browser (maybe less) so this REALLY helps me. Of course once I do select the Flash presentation my CPU/DISC is 100% consumed, but at least I know why.
