I don't think any of the current application commonly known as "linux
desktop apps" would be able to run on Chrome OS.That is because the
application you know and you use are based over GNU operating system ( which
is based on Linux kernel ).
Even if Google Chrome OS is based on Linux Kernel it doesn't mean it will be
compatible with GNU.

GTK and Debian Packaging system will probably be ported to.

Otherwise it would be just another GNU/Linux distribution with Google Chrome
installed by default, don't you think?:D
