Victory in the context of Churhill's time represents the last of the European imperialistic conflicts. What we have today is the same threat but packaged and utilized in a much different way. The ways to Victory must utilize different approaches to dealing with terrorism utilizing better intelligence and world cooperation, not one nation bearing the load. The same principles of Allied cooperation must be utilized using 21st Century technology and thinking outside the box to get "Victory". Old imperialistic attitudes and old counterinsurgency methods are no longer the way to do it. If Winston were here today, I think he would agree with me.

I had a copy of this poster from the Imperial War Museum that I put up in my office at the Pentagon after 9/11 (a replacement office, my special ops bureau there having lost our original offices in the attack), and it is now with me in retirement in Chicago. Let us all pray we Deserve Victory in our struggles in the new year, and not simply Hope for it. Special Forces and SEALs who worked for me in that office at the Pentagon are still in harm's way in Afghanistan and elsewhere today, far from their families in this holiday season.
