Hello everyone, this is my first time in this mailing list. I'd appriciate some help.
I've got the following system: Dual Dual Core Opteron 270 (4 logical CPUs) 4GB ram PC3200 SCSI RAID (8 drives, 10.000rpm, U160) NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX PCIExpress Unfortunately it runs Windoze Server 2003 64bit. I'm using Pinnacle Studio Plus v10 to create home movies (holidays etc) of about 2 hours in length each movie. These are my requirements: I want to be able to capture my DV camera footage, edit the movie and finaly export it to DVD (vob files or iso image and then burn it). My editing requirements are: Picture-In-Picture, transition effects, color correction, multiple audio streams like adding background music, text titles, scrolling text horizontaly and verticaly (end credits). So why am i here? Because i want to remove crappy windoze and use Linux instead. Thus, i've been looking for software which can fill in the above requirements. Yesterday, i joined your IRC channel and the nice people there told me that Cinelerra doesn't do proper capturing (i'd need to use Kino for example) and that it doesn't do any DVD authoring (no menus, no MPEG-2 dvd compatible export, no image generation). So far, the above limitations aren't a real problem, i can use Kino to capture my movie and i can use some other program to generate my DVD. BUT I do need all the editing features i've described above. I would appriciate some help from people who used Cinelerra for 2-hour long movies.
