It makes a lot of sense. In cinelerra, I have learned to help myself by an iterative procedure: place a label close to the sound where you want to start the clip, and then play back from the label to hear how close it is. it is not always easy to hit exactly the right point, but by correcting the label position several times, one can get fairly accurate.
