hello :)
i think it is a very good idea :)
only one question: why a list and not a forum for the users?
i like forums because you archive the info in a more organized maner
and then it is easyer to find things.
also for developers it is easyer to take a look on what users are
doing, i think :)
people interested can syndicate to the forum to be up-to-date.
in the website, i would use a similar extructure to openaudio since it
has worked so well.
the openvideo name sounds perfect :)
my 2 cents as a user ;)
:)
Disadvantages forums:
- spam
- useless discussion and yelling/cursing by members, (you don't see this
that much on mailinglists.)
- It's harder to keep a forum alive.
- hosting and moderating cost you more time I think (upgrading forum
software to avoid spam etc.)
Advantage of forum:
- easy accessible for internet surfers and newbies (more easy to join)
- archive is more accessible (more easy to see).
But of course the 'consortium' can also start a forum. But I suggest to
start with a dev and user *mailinglist* first.
About the name: openvideo sounds good to me. :)
Kind regards,
