Hi Doug!
I will save your post so that I will have it to create a TOC file
next time.
No need. You can find it in the troubleshooting page:

(Trouble #6)
She had a bunch of jumpy transitions and moves. I showed her 2 track
editing where there is room between the clips to have nice smooth
transition in the pictures. She said she had not seen that in help
files. If some mention of that is not there the addition of that info
might help to relieve some frustration for a beginner
I'm not sure to understand what a jumpy transition and move is and how
you get a nice and smooth one...
You know you are my hero:-)
You know you are mine! :-)
Ciao!

I am going to try to explain here what I am talking about when I say a
jerky transition or move. The lady had putt together series of pictures
not as a slide show but more to look like a movie or video. with smooth
transitions camera zooms and pans. This was using single track editing.
In the case of a camera pan In the first picture the pan ended up
with the band at the top of the picture and needed to start the next
picture with the band at the bottom. That would make a jump in the
camera motion at the start of the picture. She tried to cover that up
with a transition. This I think worked to some degree but not
completely you could still see a quick move of the camera. I think
another problem may have been that she had pushed on picture over or
uder the other but it was all still there. So when the transition
started it looked fine but suddley a flash of the first picture appeared
and then the transiton went on. I was calling that a jerky trnasition,
probably a bad discription. By haveing her change the pictures to two
track editing. There was a blank space between each picture in each
track. In this blank space the band could be bent from the bottom to
the top in any way and it did not show up in the video. This I think is
much easier for a beginer because it is more intuitive. I had her not
use any transitions so that she could overlap pictures and have them
make a transiton using lightness and darkness. She could imediatly see
what the transition would look like and there was not interference with
bands and transitions with each other. After doing this she had a
beautiful smooth video. She came over this morning and showed me a
really nice video on my television set. She also had done a really nice
voice over. Beautiful voice! It will be part of a presentation next
week. She is really happy with it. I hope this makes sense, it does
to me but then I already understand it. That makes a difference.:-)
