I have been running the single IOS on one of my Cat6509's for about 6 months
and haven't had any problems. I am aware of the issues that the other post
states when uploading the new image, however I followed the step by step
process and had no problems. Use 12.07(XE1)or higher. As far as interface
configuration, you can use range commands with IOS the only difference is
all the ports on the switch are configured as interfaces which can be routed
or switched. I am about to load the single IOS on my other 6509's this
weekend. As far as command line functionality, whatever is available with
the old Cat os will eventually be worked into the single IOS in later
releases. I am also using the Flex WAN for WAN connectivity. Cisco has big
plans for the 6509, stay tuned.
