CDP is a great help when dealing with Open View's auto discovery.  You know-
that router you did not authorize & that did not exist yesterday.  One of my
contracts is in a Cisco equipped government shop & we have a lot of GSxx
cowboys, who like to place new routers out on the Enterprise network.  It's
great thing to have the ability to rub up against it's directly connected
neighbor & maybe even turn on a little interface debug.  In these cases, I
can learn more about a router than I normally would with the enable
password.

Cisco is trying for an RFC on this one too...
