Navin,
I've never had a problem with Hyperterminal until very recently. New laptop
with Windows ME on. Unfortunately I copied over all my usual stuff and
configured everything before realising how bad Windows ME can be. This is
just one of the problems I've had.
I've found that disconnecting/connecting the console cable while any
application is using the port locks everything up. The best way round it I
have found is to connect everything up before firing up Hyperterminal. If
you need to move connections, close Hyperterminal and re-open it after
connection is made.
If it locks up, the only way I have found to bring it back is to shutdown
(restart doesn't seem to work, needs to be full shutdown to reset com port).
This happens using other applications such as Procomm Plus, TeraTerm, so I'm
yet to confirm whether it's a Windows ME thing or the laptop itself.
Cheers,
Gareth
