If you look at the fine print of the smartnet contract it says there is a 45
day waiting period from the start of the contract before they will replace
any hardware, if it's not under standard warranty.
I don't think this is strictly enforced, but I'm sure it was implemented to
discourage people from taking advantage of the situation.

I know a couple of people who have purchased SmartNet's for Ebay equipment.
Get the Cisco part # of the contract you want & go to www.shopper.com to
find the best price. Purchase the contract from the lowest price reseller.
Havn't you ever wondered why "current make" broken Cisco equipment sells
sooo well.
