You may also need to pop the hood on the AGS and ensure that you move the
jumpers to set it to DTE or DCE as desired.

You can also do searches for DCE DTE jumpers AGS and find more infomration
about this.

The AGS+ is unyielding and unforgiving about any hardware configuration
errors, so I would ensure that you jumpers are set as desired.  If the AGS
end of the cable is is DCE, ensure you configure the serial port as DCE by
moving its jumpers.     Also, start low such as 64Kbps, even if it can
handle higher;  that way, you can get the lowest common denominator out of
the way.
