HSRP is covered briefly in the CCNP switching exam.  It is in the switching
exam because it deals with redundancy at the access layer which is on the
exam outline.

While this is true, Layer 3 switches through off this distinction and HSRP
can be used across switches. I am wondering why both CCNP books dedicate a
whole chapter to it if it not on the exam. That is IF it is not on the exam.
