Hold on before you do anything.

If you connect something wrong to your MAU, there's a great chance of
burning one of the fuses in there, so be sure you have the right cable and
converter.

The media filter is a converter that plugs in to the DB9, and that has a
jack for an RJ45 cable.

Once you got that, you can use a normal (straight through) CAT5 cable to
your MAU.

I am not familiar with your MAU, but if it's not an advanced one, you might
have to place a CAT5 cable from the OUT port to the IN port in order to
"close" the ring.

A CCIE sent me an email saying that it was possible to create a virtual TR 
interface but I really don't understand what he meant. Have not heard back 
from him yet? :-)
