Try the troubleshooting techniques from Cisco -> http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/cisintwk/itg_v1/index.htm
select Token-Ring and follow the instructions! If that doesn't give you any luck then turn on debug and check the status of the interface... Also if you have CCO then dump the TechReport from the 2503 -> https://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/OutputInterpreter/home.pl That will give you any field/bug fixes for your version of IOS...
