During a session, the CSS maintains an association between a client an a server. The association is referred to as stickiness. Stickiness enables transactions over the web when the client must remain on the same server for the entire session. Depending on the content rule, the CSS sticks a client to an appropriate server after the css has determined which load balancing method to use.
Depending on the application, the site may require that the customer become stuck to one server once the connection is established, or the application may not require this until the customer starts to build a shopping cart. The CSS can use a variety of methods to achieve stickiness depending on the requirement of the application including: Source IP address Source IP address and destination port. String found in a cookie or URL SSL session ID In my case I needed the client stuck as soon as they log on to the site.. >From: "Gaz" >Reply-To: "Gaz" >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Re: css 11000 [7:33498] >Date: Tue, 29 Jan 2002 14:56:34 -0500 > >I'm not doubting that there is one, but what's the importance of using >sticky for http? > >Fill a gap in my knowledge.
