How've you got 8Mb flash? I've only ever seen 2Mb and 16Mb on a 520. Sorry
if you're definite, but if you're not, give us a show ver.
You should have one of the following :

AT29C040A - 2 MB
atmel  - 2 MB
i28F640J5 - 16 MB
strata - 16 MB

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, otherwise let us know what you did
to upgrade so far and at what point it screwed up. Don't remember seeing one
go wrong.
