So if someone had a 700 series router for 2 years on their ISDN line
they would qualify? Please...

Real life is:

You need over 5 years experience, Certifications and a 4 year B.S.
degree computer related.

You would love that if Cisco came out with that statement, because you
have over 2 years experience. I am sure there was a time where you
didn't. And I am sure people who had a lot more experience then you,
helped you out.

When I first started my MCSE, I practically memorized a big textbook NT
Server Unleashed. I scored a 900 on my NT Server exam without ever
touching a server. Since I knew this book so well, I was able to recall
things I read when I was out implementing networks with the other SR.
engineers. Now and again I would remember something from the book that
they didn't. I have the ability to read a book and then implement what I
learn in a real world environment.

My point is some people like me want to know all the theory, before we
go out touching the real networks. Books and Tests will always be
different from hands-on and experience. The ability to bridge those two
does vary, from person to person. I do have hands a lot of hands on, but
I am just saying.

I don't care about the test changing, I just want to be told before I
sit the exam that it is new before paying $125. I passed routing and I
am rushing to get Switching, BCRAN and CIT done. After I finish, I can
have all the time in the world to test out my newly learned skills on my
home lab, simulations programs (they make a lot of them) Sybex has about
100 of them. And yes, the actual real networks. Just like everyone else
does now.

You know people are upset about this change, so you post garbage to
antagonize people. I can assure you, if they do not tell the CCNP
candidates about the change before implemting it, it will not be a good
thing for Cisco, its products YOU or its current certification holders.
That is the last thing you want to do, is to make people angry, the same
ones that are implementing and suggesting network equipment the
corporate workplaces.

I think everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. It is simple,
either you know the topic or you don't. What would everyone do if Cisco
decided one day to require all of its exam candidates to provide proof
of two years work experience with their products before they are
eligible to become certified?

Yea, and the CCIE written and lab cover the same material too. NOT.

Sounds like you are talking from your own experiences.

I purchased all 500 series material not long ago. I figured since they

just came out with the 500 series I would be good for a while.

Imagine you sat down for the SAT, and on the top of the page it said

"attention, now this test is totally different". Then a guy who took it

5 years ago is saying that he got a 1300, but only had 55 questions.

Another guy took it this year and is saying he got a 1200 but it had 69

questions.

In my own humble opinion it is enough with the changes already. Please

make it a stable exam, which is equal for everyone. Make it the same

score, make it the same number of questions. Try to put some consistency

in it. And most of all, keep some of us with test anxiety in the loop.

Actually working on routers, switches comes from hands on experience

with the products. There is not way to simulate a large enterprise of

Routers and switches on 1 PC in a testing center. Please, have some

common sense before you post garbage like this.

Why is everyone so worried about the new exam format? Wouldn't it be

amazing if someone with a certification could actually do something? If

simulations and a new format are scaring you that bad you shouldn't even

be taking the exams

Are the CCNP exams going to a new format soon? I was talking with

someone at

my testing center and they said they will be changing the format soon.

Anyone know when?
