No ROMMON on this one- in 2500 "boot" mode there's o/r 0x41 (natural boot process) or 42 (42 being the load without NVRAM configs). Then type I or b to reload the router with the new config register settings.

[7:41414] Issue a break and stop the bootup sequence. Go into rommon mode and change the config-reg to 0x142. Reload and erase your config (WR E) when it goes into bootrom mode. Change your config-reg back to 0x2102 and reboot the router. Let me know if that does not work. thanks, -Brad Ellis CCIE#5796 (R&S / Security) Network Learning Inc [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.optsys.net (Cisco hardware) ""Edward Sohn"" wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... > my 2511 was working fine a few days ago with--i believe--11.0xx > software. i created a configuration and saved it. yesterday, i > upgraded the RAM so that i could load 12.2xx. > > the router won't fully boot up, and it never goes into the config or > into rommon. i don't get it. again, it was working a few days ago. > unfortunately, i can't put the old chips back in b/c i overwrote them > already--ugh. i loaded up 12.2.7 onto the flash via another router and > tried to boot it up again in the 2522... > > here's the output from when i start up the router, to where it hangs... > > > System Bootstrap, Version 11.0(10c), SOFTWARE > Copyright (c) 1986-1996 by cisco Systems > 2500 processor with 14336 Kbytes of main memory > > %SYS-4-CONFIG_NEWER: Configurations from version 12.0 may not be > correctly understood. > F3: 14576440+958356+908736 at 0x3000060 > > Restricted Rights Legend > > Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is > subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraph > (c) of the Commercial Computer Software - Restricted > Rights clause at FAR sec. 52.227-19 and subparagraph > (c) (1) (ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer > Software clause at DFARS sec. 252.227-7013. > > cisco Systems, Inc. > 170 West Tasman Drive > San Jose, California 95134-1706 > > > > Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software > IOS (tm) 2500 Software (C2500-JS-L), Version 12.2(7b), RELEASE SOFTWARE > (fc1) > Copyright (c) 1986-2002 by cisco Systems, Inc. > Compiled Tue 05-Mar-02 05:10 by pwade > Image text-base: 0x030794BC, data-base: 0x00001000 > > cisco 2511 (68030) processor (revision M) with 14336K/2048K bytes of > memory. > Processor board ID 17604021, with hardware revision 00000000 > Bridging software. > X.25 software, Version 3.0.0. > SuperLAT software (copyright 1990 by Meridian Technology Corp). > TN3270 Emulation software. > 1 Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s) > 2 Serial network interface(s) > 16 terminal line(s) > 32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory. > 16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read ONLY) > > 00:00:09: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Ethernet0, changed state to up > 00:00:09: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0, changed state to down > 00:00:09: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial1, changed state to down > 00:00:27: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Ethernet0, > changed state to down > 00:00:34: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Serial0, changed state to > administratively down > 00:00:35: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from memory by console > 00:00:35: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Serial1, changed state to > administratively down > 00:00:35: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0, > changed state to down > 00:00:38: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial1, > changed state to down > 00:01:18: %SYS-5-RESTART: System restarted -- > Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software > IOS (tm) 2500 Software (C2500-JS-L), Version 12.2(7b), RELEASE SOFTWARE > (fc1) > Copyright (c) 1986-2002 by cisco Systems, Inc. > Compiled Tue 05-Mar-02 05:10 by pwade > 00:01:18: %SNMP-5-COLDSTART: SNMP agent on host Terminal_Server is > undergoing a cold start > > > > _________________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=41471&t=41414 -------------------------------------------------- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
