Ed, all, 1. no clue. probably the usual marketing crap.
2. NPE has a single cpu that performs all the tasks. NSE has a PXF 'coprocessor' that can offload some tasks from the main CPU and therefore it could perform better in some cases. see: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/ifaa/prossor/nse1/ There were a couple of issues as the NSEs came out. But in the meantime they should run quite well. 3. The actual NPE/NSE models do not work in non-VXR routers.
