I have 2-3 simple uplink questions:

1) What is uplink exactly?

a. Does uplink mean connecting an uplink port of switch R to an uplink port
of switch S
OR
b. Does it mean connecting an uplink port of switch R to a normal port of
switch S

I guess in most situations it's option a. But i also think it can also be
option b, however you might have to deal with speeds of 10mbps in case the
normal port supports only that much.

2) In the above two situations, what cables(straight, crossover) would you
use for options a & b.

3) If i connect a server to an uplink port directly to take advantage of
higher speeds, do I use a straight or crossover cable?

Thank You
