Here is the gist of how I have mine setup..
I have a 2621 that I use for a firewall it works great.
FastE0/0 -> Cable Modem -> internet
FastE0/1 isl-trunk-> Switch
interface FastEthernet0/0
description Cable Modem Access Point
ip address dhcp client-id FastEthernet0/0 ; Hi guys
