Steve I was so sorry to read your post it brough back memories of Henry who had suffered from really bad heart problems from the age of three. When he was nine he started swelling up and had his cavety drained, there was quite a lot of blood in it and he started swelling up again about three weeks later and they didn't want to drain it off again. He gradually faded away after that but he was a very bad case and the vet told me that they notmally have more success draining the fluid off. I think he had been on meds for so long that all his organs gave up - we were just thankful we had him for the time we did and grateful to Maria his lovely vet who did everything she could to help him live a life without compromise. He was still running in the park a month before he died and was only really bad for two weeks (the longest in my life!).
I would have thought your dogs prognosis would be better as she's only just started on the pills - good luck, I hope she has many more years.
