Good morning to all, I am writing to let you know that my pregnant bitch whom I wrote about a couple of weeks that wasn't eating has 7 babies in her tummy. Her 63rd day in tomorrow. Her first litter was whelped on the 62nd day. Her temperature has been around 99 to 100. My concern is that she is so full of puppies that her muscles might be too stretched to handle going into labor. She has not shown any signs of getting ready. She has been in the whelping box but not nesting has she done. It is obvious that she is waiting for something to happen and there is not action. Everything appears normal. There is no discharge of color. She is not stressed or in pain. She has been doing a lot of sleeping and did eat some yesterday. I just wondered what your experiences had been with a bitch having 7 puppies. Have you found that they can whelp that many puppies without problems? I guess I am concerned about the fact that nothing is happening because her mom with her litter of 8 never went into labor. We finally decided it was best to do a c-section. I would love to hear from you. What are your thoughts on a bitch with this many puppies? What would you do? I had an x-ray done yesterday to make sure the puppies were in the right position and none of them appeared to be a problem. Kallie's first litter was a piece of cake for her. She went into labor and an hour later was in hard labor. She began to have puppies two hours after she went into labor. She is in perfect health. She has been active during her pregnancy jumping over my gates. Physically there should not be a problem. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Carolyn Adams Tallahassee, Fl.
