The discussion is here: https://github.com/clojure-emacs/cider/issues/375 Basically, there was lots of confusion between nrepl.el (the client) and nREPL (the server). Added to switch nrepl.el had lots of functionality which wasn't just the client -- all of that's in nrepl-client.el now. Probably a long term win, but a bit of a pain in the short term.
