I have used CLJS to build Qt apps which allows you to deploy the same app to
iOS, Android, Windows and OSX. Qt 5 introduced a native javascript engine that
is treated first-class within the platform, and you can easily write your
javascript using CLJS in an editor outside Qt and have your Qt project import
it. Ultimately, all Qt apps get compiled down via C++ and the JS layer is on
top of that, but I have updated the CLJS even during an app's live running, and
had it change behavior just like a REPL workflow. It's one way around the
nagging close-save-compile-launch development process usually associated with
C/C++/Objective-C development.

It's fun but I have no experience with other platforms to compare this workflow
to.

Qt also provides lots of built-in animation and UI tools that your JS/CLJS can
access, it's like having a super-optimized jQuery running without you having to
directly interact at that level.
