Well said. Let's just leave it at: Linux isn't polished. And so ended the saga of the S3 Unichrome complaint. Be sure to join us tomorrow if/when I discuss my gripes with the nVidia card I'm planning to buy ;)

Regards,

Andrew

IMHO, i believe that the main reason that linux is not ready for the desktop (and by that, i'm interpreting that this means: ready for mass consumption by the public), is that the mass majority of the users of computers today have neither the interest, inclination, or training, or interest in being trained, to use linux effectively. I find that what is interesting about linux, is generally uninteresting to those who do not use linux. I have a friend who does 3 things on his computer: he reads email, he uses the web, he plays games. He has no interest in being able to fix his computer, he has me to do this for him.

That being said, i find linux to be incredible, in several ways, one of which is that this is server grade software, and its FREE!

<paraphrase> Linux Torvalds once said he was more interested in making a good product than one that everyone can use. </paraphrase>

Why are we struggling to provide joe average something that he has no interest in?
