I believe the difference between XGA and SXGA is the viewing angle is higher 
with SXGA. I could be wrong.

Dell is getting on the bandwagon, albeit slowly, probably due to restrictive 
contracts, I don't know if it's an option yet.

My notebook is a Toshiba and with the Toshiba ACPI extensions the hardware 
support is great under Linux. Unfortunately theres this ugly sticker on it 
that says 'Designed for that other legacy OS' and I don't think that's 
optional.

HP is making Designed for Linux laptops. I don't know if they've shipped yet 
or the cost involved.
