Likely what I'll do is port the VO drivers I've written for mplayer and xine to gst, which will seamlessly integrate with the front-end stuff, as opposed to maintaining a completely separate code path for gst. (And, although this may be considered flamebait, gstreamer is not yet at a point where I feel compelled to take it seriously. Until it gets AC3/DTS passthrough and a good deinterlacer that can dynamically handle progressive, telecined, and interlaced content, I've no incentive to use it over Xine.
