If you are only diluting in 3cc of NS this is usually a IV push med.  This is not coded in K5a.  If you are diluting in larger amounts like 50cc, 100cc or 250cc bags (minibags, or piggybacks) you would count this in k5a.

Has anyone read this in the new info put out for April of this year.  It really is confusing says count IV fluids including piggybacks then in the next sentence it says so not count fluid used to dilute IV's  So I ask can you count the 100 to 250 cc used to administer the antibiotics in section K or not???  Even if IV med is not given with regular IV
