Dear Mar, Welcome welcome welcome. I hope you find the support, reassurance and answers you are seeking from our group. You will get a lot of love and listening for sure. I know several people have had very rough starts, and eventually..things got better. The first year is often one of the most challenging for many getting on the right med at the right doseage for your body...getting your counts in order, hematologic and hopefully cytogenic remission... I have been on four meds for cml, three within the first year.....due to toxicities. I get toxic at standard dosages so the standards are not an option for me. The good news is that half a dose of Dasatanib holds me. I have side effects but I take several meds to manage the side effects and together, they all seem to be working for me. I hope for you that you stay connected, get good support, and be sure to go to a CML specialist, who knows these meds, and how to treat someone who has severe toxicities...That has helped me greatly. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions of your doctors. I am hopeful that you will have a positive result with time and good tending to and a lot of support and wisdom shared by others who have started walking this path before you. Stay positive..We are here walking with you. Fondly, 18's Beth

I was diagnosed January 10 2013. Since then I have been on Gleevec, failed (due to toxicity twice) and was switched to Dasatinib which I have toxicity to as well and had to stop taking the medication. Each time I have had the toxicity my blood levels are so low that it takes 4-5 weeks for them (neutrophils, platelets and wbc's) to go back to even the lower range of normal. Thus, I have not yet had any cytogenic or molecular recovery.. if anything, my last result was going backward. I have another appointment on December 19th to see if there is any recovery at all... I am keeping my fingers crossed. It has been quite the roller coaster... I am not sure if others have had the same type of roller coaster in the first year. I just ran into this group tonight and I appreciated reading others emails about their recovery... thank- you.. Hope to be able to post one of my own recovery stories one of these days.
