www.oncampusuk.co.uk have a CMS product in the UK that was writen
specially for Student Unions. We also found that CMS' available were not
best suited to the Student Organisation for various reasons so we wrote our
own.

We found Unions wanted/needed was a comprehensive web based site builder
that was easy to use and restricted the user into styles and templates that
were pre-defined by the designer. All adminstration of the site needed to be
performed over the web; adding templates, adding/modifying new pages,
defining structure of a page, editing the content of a page and managing
users rights.

Maybe what we have done is not that revolutionary but we now have over 24
UK Student Unions using the system and we can create new sites in minutes
that can then be editted online.

Some sites that use our system

  Bristol http://www.ubu.org.uk/
  Oxford http://www.ousu.org/
  Leicester http://www.leicesterstudent.org/
  Liverpool http://www.l-s-u.com/
  Greenwich http://www.suug.co.uk
  Brighton http://www.ubsu.net/
  Lancashire http://www.yourunion.co.uk/
  Huddrsfield http://www.huddersfieldstudent.com/

  Our own site http://www.oncampusuk.co.uk/main

We actually host the sites and provide the software for free in exchange
for an advertising partnership and we now have over 24 unions signed up and
using our software but we would gladly disus with anyone who wanted to use
the system under different terms.

Subject: [cms-list] Advice for CMS for College

I am wondering if someone from a medium sized college (6,000 students,
community college preferred) has any suggestions for a relatively
inexpensive, easy to use CMS. As with most CMS, it appeared from my
research that they are not very well suited for colleges where many, many
people are responsible for their own sites/content. Any advice would be
most appreciated.
