The handle on my W/C head broke the other day and Thetford told me I had to
buy the whole $91 repair kit to get the one little plastic piece. My
solution is to go to the local machine shop and get them to make one up for
me out of stainless: about $20.
To your problem of the packing and washer, both should be available from a
plumbing supply store.
I am considering Rich's advice for another winter project. You can bet that
it won't be a Thetford product. I dislike being ripped off.
