Joel - Bigger hammer?   I don't mean to be flippant, but sometimes just 
banging the living heck out of something with a hammer really works.  I 
keep a huge (like the biggest I have ever seen) flat blade screwdriver 
on board.   I've had deck fittings stick, and the spanner wrench just 
jumps out of the holes.  I've stuck that big screwdriver in the slot, 
and clamped a crescent wrench down as tight as I can, and start tapping 
on the end of the wrench with a hammer.  Start with light taps, and then 
when you get really frustrated just whale away.
