Peter,

Not sure what you should do, but it looks like your C&C39 is #60, but is
confused as to what year.  In the HIN on the hull, it indicates July, 1973,
but the plate indicates final build is 1974 from what I know.

I would think what is inscribed in the hull (CCY39 060 0773) is the most
appropriate as it cannot be changed without boat damage.  Your plate is only
screwed in and can be replaced without damage to the vessel.  As Rich said,
it can be easily removed...

Come to think of it, my boat doesn't have a number on the plate - and it is
not a metal plate, more like a thick decal - 1980.
