The model year starts on September 1st, so a boat laid down in July or August (maybe even earlier) and intended for sale after September 1 would get the next model year. Late 73+ 74 model. Late 74+75 model. Etc.
There is another, later, system using alphabetic characters that shows both the month construction started and the model year. And yes, Rick, the subject does seem to get covered every 5 or 6 months on the list.
