For ABYC compliance it must be failsafe or with integral / external status monitoring for a failure.
All DIY solutions would also not comply to the 'general requirements' of the GI ABYC section. Now whether this is highlighted during survey and any liabilities but noncompliance ... I leave to others. Ed
