All,

The Enterprise-A was a 1978 C&C 34. The original Yanmar 20HP got her to 6.4
knots (Warp 6.4) with a folding prop.

The best way to maximize your speed is keeping your bottom clean. Have your
boat dived on regularly. During the warmer months, when growth excels, we clean
once a week.

I think this thread started with the notion of a repower. As someone going
through this process now, I would highly recommending against it until you
absolutely have to.

All the best,

Edd

Might as well chime in .
My 1982 34' c/b with a 3GMF20 ,martec folding cruises the same as Legacy III
about 5.5 to 6 max around 3100rpm.
When I first got the boat and brought it up to NJ from Annapolis she had a 2
blade sailor and cruised to 7knots pretty easily.

Hi Brian,

After seeing Legacy's speed with a 3GM, I feel less bad about our speed.
I've got a 1978 34 with a 2QM20 and get right around 5.5 with a Mar-Tec
folding prop, too.
I though she was under-powered, but I guess not. I try not to run wide-open,
so I can only guess we'd get to 6kts.
Good news she sips diesel fuel.
