Hi Andy,
     There are reasons for not going forward.  I had a squall hit us when
we were off the coast of Maine in big swells.  Hanging onto the mast while
trying to get the mainsail down wasn't much fun.  It might have been better
in the safety of the cockpit.  I did have a harness on, in case you think
I'm completely stupid, but it was still pretty hairy.
